The staff was above lovely.Special mention to Arturo who saved my shoes and Luisa , Santiago , Sebastian , Julian and Wilson at the reception team for all the advises and cool tips. See you soon !
All the staff were so friendly and speak really good English. We took part in the salsa class and the yoga class and everyone was so kind and knowledgeable! We also had breakfast there in the morning which was reasonably priced and tasty.
The only con I would say is they are very particular with staining of the towels, stating fines of 40,000 COP if you get makeup on them. Which is completely reasonable, however, in my opinion, should therefore provide some sort of flannel. I had my own so wasn’t a problem for me personally, but can see for other travellers how it might be.
The security and safety is the best we’ve seen and felt Colombia. The security guards avidly checking for the wrist bands and generally having a presence around the entrance to the hostel.
Location is excellent for us, easy access to metro station and lovely atmosphere to stroll around El Poblado. The Italian restaurant next door was sensational! A must-do when you’re here.
Recently stayed here for a number of nights.
Pros:
Private room was top class. Spacious room with a nice view and a great shower.
24 hour reception. Very handy.
Laundry service that had my clothes back after a few hours in the same day - great job.
Has a nice restaurant & bakery on the ground floor.
There is a pizza place next door which is unbelievable.
Location is decent. In the El Poblado region although I think this region is overblown - it felt like I was on one of those strips in one of those really touristy areas in other cities.
Pool on top floor is more of a jacuzzi but nice to cool down.
Cons:
Not sure if just quite season but the hostel was virtually empty when we were there. Loads of the rooms were empty that we could see. This lead to a slightly strange atmosphere. The hostel were running some activities in the evenings but there was only ever 2/3 people max on these.
One thing I want to mention was the salsa class they ran. The salsa teacher was great and she was really patient and seriously good at dancing. However, the lessons were held on the terrace where there is a bar. The bar was kept open during the lesson and this is a very small area. It basically resulted in men at the bar laughing and joking at the dancing and they were also non stop staring at the woman instructor along with 2 of the girls in the class. It was extremely uncomfortable - if you are running an activity like this, I suggest you close off the terrace for that hour for salsa only. Would make it better for everyone involved. 2 of the men staring were also employees of the hostel which made it worse in my opinion as they should have known that it was unsettling.
